STUDENTS OF PROGRESS (AND OF USC PRICE)

Sanah Bukhari

Principal

Sanah is a local, hailing from Long Island City, a neighborhood that has already experienced the benefits of new development and zoning rules. She wants to bring the same success to the residents of Gowanus.

Asya Patterson

Principal

Asya’s experience in affordable housing development and her knowledge of building neighborhoods in a big city, as a proud resident of Chicago, help her understand the needs of Gowanus as it grows.

Alex Rader

Principal

Alex is now on the West Coast, but spent decades in Brooklyn and understands intimately the connection its residents have with their neighborhoods. A long-time fan of the Gowanus Canal (as a concept, not so much as a Superfund site), he is excited to make the canal a wonderful place for all New Yorkers.

Carly Rodriguez

Principal

Working to create opportunities for all people through Washington DC’s corridors of power, Carly brings deep knowledge of the work necessary to finance and complete new projects. A native of Pennsylvania, she also understands the unique challenges facing canals in the Northeast.

Gretchen Stranzl McCann

Principal

Gretchen’s commitment to the environment and deep understanding of design will bring needed expertise across disciplines to the Gowanus Rezoning Project. But those contributions may be dwarfed by her knowledge of public policy and the inner workings of city government, giving The Closers a closer of our own.

Neal Swanson

Principal

Neal knows development. And he knows how to combine uses within a single space and across a complex combination of construction types. His experience developing livable communities with foresight and care will provide a valuable approach to the diverse work necessary across Gowanus.
